What are Bold Improvement Schools?

Bold Improvement Schools serve a high at-risk student population and have combined math and English language arts at-risk student group growth and achievement outcomes, emphasizing growth, that exceed students who are not at-risk at schools serving predominantly high-income families. The Bold Improvement Schools have growth and achievement rates for at-risk students that, if continued on current trajectories, would close the achievement gap within five years.

How are Bold Improvement Schools selected?

The Bold Improvement index scores are determined using the DC School Report Card that shows schools that serve high proportions of at-risk students and at-risk students with disabilities, where academic growth exceeds growth among students who are not at-risk and without special education needs at DC’s lowest poverty schools.
